Maintaining the Routine Work This routine work, such as chanting, speaking, rising early, cleaning, cooking and offering prasadam, arati, reading books--these activities are the backbone of our Society, and if we practice them nicely in a regulative manner, then our whole program will be successful. If we become slack or neglect these things, then everything else we may try will fail. (Letter from Srila Prabhupada) Ideal Householder Life--Better than Many Sannyasis I am so pleased upon you that you are showing the example of an ideal householder. Srila Bhaktivinode Thakura was also a householder, but he lived in so perfect Krishna Consciousness that he is better than many Sannyasis like us. (Letter from Srila Prabhupada) Reading Srila Prabhupada's Books I am requesting all of my students to read my books very seriously every day without fail. In this way, if your mind becomes absorbed at least one or two hours daily... (Letter from Srila Prabhupada) Perfect Communism Your great founder of your nation, Mr. Nikolai Lenin, was very much intelligent, and he could understand that people become united only under the guiding principles of a commonly accepted philosophy or standard of truth. But if we examine the course of history, we must conclude, with Mr. Karl Marx, that this so-called standard of truth constantly changes. (Letter from Srila Prabhupada) ISKCON--Copyrighting and Trademarking HARE KRISHNA!!! The Sankirtana Movement is not my invention. So how can it be copyrighted? (Letter from Srila Prabhupada) Prabhupada Enjoys the Govindam Record Album The record is so nice that I am playing it at least once in a day and it is giving me transcendental pleasure with tears in my eyes. I am sure this record will be the first-class hit as already opined by the experts. (Letter from Srila Prabhupada) Sevice. There is no question of inferior or superior. One who distinguishes a particular type of service as inferior or superior, he does not know the value of devotional service. It is all transcendental. (Letter from Srila Prabhupada) We Accept Evolution, but Not Darwin's Theory It is confirmed in Padma Purana that the species of life evolved from aquatics to plants, vegetables, trees; thereafter insects, reptiles, flies, birds, then beasts, and then human kind. This is the gradual process of evolution of species of life. When I was in London, he saw me four times and he was very submissive and devout and he was not at all proud of his very well-to-do material position. Why Doesn't God Just Appear so we Can See Him? Why is it that God does not just manifest Himself? Wouldn't that end all the disbelief in the Lord? Wouldn't that end atheism completely? I am trying to comprehend this matter Wouldn't it be a billion times easier for everyone from devotee to doubter if the Lord just manifested himself today before us all? I am very confused on this matter. I am a believer from faith but am still confused. Your friend, Tom (Letter from Madhudvisa dasa) Uniting the Different Religions of the World With the Bhagavad-gita The plain truth is that the Supreme Godhead is the Father, the Nature is the Supreme Mother and all living entities so many children of Almighty Father Godhead and the Mother Nature. The whole arrangement is therefore a family unit and one should wonder as to why there is so much anomaly in this universal family affair. (Letter from Srila Prabhupada) Questions & Answers With Srila Prabhupada Dear Swami Bhaktivedanta,
I've read that your Krishna Consciousness is a non-sectarian science of the soul. How is it, then, that you follow some particular concept of God- Krishna rather than a more universal concept, such as the One, or the All-Pervading Light? (Letter from Srila Prabhupada) What Are The Vedas? Veda means knowledge, and there are two kinds of knowledge, one mundane and another transcendental. The Vedas are considered to be originally transcendental because they come from the platform which existed before the creation. This transcendental knowledge was impregnated in the heart of the first created living being, and then he distributed the knowledge both for material and spiritual purposes. (Letter from Srila Prabhupada) What is a real guru? Prabhupada explains: Accepting a guru really means learning the spiritual science from him and executing his instructions. As you say, life is hectic, so don't jump into a guru-disciple relationship blindly. If you continue chanting Hare Krishna and study Bhagavad Gita As It Is by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabupada, I'm sure your path will become crystal clear. (Letter from Dravinaksa dasa) How I Discovered Krishna I live in the USA in Pennsylvania. It is a nice place and the people are also nice but they are not very open-minded. I will tell you about how I discovered Krishna. (Letter from Dan) Does Initiation Make The Maha-Mantra Work? Ive read in Prabhupada's books that this transcedental sound is passed down through a lineage of masters, and the pure sound is preserved by great yogis as himself. Also these great yogis share this sound with their desciples in first initiation. Is this the way you can begin to practice this kind of yoga? Can I receive this sound by anybody or do I need to receive it by someone like Prabhupada? (Letter from Gadadhara das) Why do my friends say I look sad when I am happy just thinking of Krsna? There are many pictures of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada where he looks very grave or sad, but he said he was feeling great happiness in Krishna consciousness. People only see the body, not the mind or even the soul, so they may misinterpret our inner feelings. (Letter from Dravinaksa das) The Power of Prabhupada's Books [Science of Self Realsation] Granny was saying that this was not some ordinary book... I was very surprised. She said that we should listen to what Prabhupada said and chant Hare Krishna because that was the religion for this age. There was a lot of talk about how Christianity was no more and no one was following the Bible, but what Prabhupada said was pure and perfect... (Letter from Bhaktin Dora) Change the Public Not the Philosophy Our process is to show Krishna Consciousness as it is, not as others want to see it. By showing KC in this way, you are making the thing less important. It is not that we should change to accommodate the public, but that we shoud change the public to accommodate us.
